Introducing: The Community Planner
Whether you are a planning professional, an elected or appointed official, or a citizen who wants to have more information and be an active participant in your government, The Community Planner has something to offer you. It is provided on a CD-Rom so there is plenty of room for templates, worksheets, and examples. These articles are written in plain text and definitions/explanations are provided. A variety of formats are used including document files, spreadsheets, and presentations so that you can simply adapt the samples for your own use. By using your imagination, I feel sure that you can find many ways to use these tools beyond just Planning.

Welcome to My Virginia Resources.
Much of the information found here is about the Town of Christiansburg, where I live. The site came into being when I found that documents I needed to obtain from the town were not available on their website. I began a quest to obtain the documents that I needed and realized that other people might want them as well. So, I taught myself how to build a website and how to use a scanner. I am now working on the ongoing process of maintaining and expanding the website as new topics come to my attention. I later taught myself how to use digital voice and video recorders and how to get them posted to the web.
Since that time the Town of Christiansburg has created a new website which does include some of this information. I must commend the town for the work that they have done thus far and their continued work to improve and expand public access to information!
To the left and right you will find a list of links that you may find useful for finding information about United States government, the State of Virginia, and specific jurisdictions within the areas where I live in Southwest Virginia. Montgomery County, the Town of Blacksburg, the Town of Christiansburg, and the City of Radford are represented. The Local Government sites will take you to the offical websites for those jurisdictions while the U.S. and Virgini links will direct to to websites for specific sections of interest.
The links at the top of the page are specific to the Town of Christiansburg and contain historical information.
Anyone can do what I have done here if they but have a bit of patience and are willing to work. It is my hope that others will take a chance and do just that.
