I’m working on getting the videos up so that anyone interested can see the meeting. Some nice footage of the swearing in ceremonies!
However, despite all of the other things that happened at the Sept. 7, 2010 Town Council meeting, there was one very sad thing that I heard. Apparently, it is believed that in order to get people to come to “Downtown” alcohol must be served. I find it very sad that it is either the perception or the fact that Downtown has nothing to offer unless someone is bribed by beer or wine to come there. Sad, very very sad.
Oh, and by the way, the Mayor was once again cast the deciding vote. This time on whether to allow alcohol to be served on public streets. This was not for the beer garden on private property as with previous events but is on Main Street. The Mayor’s rationale was that he had not heard from any one or any religious groups that they did not like this so it must be okay. Voting no were Councilmembers Stipes, VanHoozier, and Hall. Councilmembers Barber, Huppert and Showalter voted for the measure.

You are correct….that was an unintended mistake on my part, I started with the councilmembers’ full names (first and last) and edited it to reduce space. I accidentally removed Mr. Hall’s last name instead of his first. I have correct it. Thanks!

“Voting no were Councilmembers Stipes, VanHoozier, and Cord. Councilmembers Barber, Huppert and Showalter voted for the measure.”
Councilmember Cord?!? Such familiarity with the councilman might tend to undermine his perceived credibility with the public.
