Maybe they should have gone with a smaller pool and more infrastructure upgrades and repair for the $18+ million.

That is just sad that they do not seem to take it seriously. I certainly hope it is ignorance and not due to a lack of care or concern for it’s citizens. I don’t want to live in a town like that!

I think they decided the new swimmin’ hole should be closer to Christiansburg Middle School. There was a nice pond near the new construction site. Is this stormwater overflow indicative of the contractor’s concern for what he is doing to the land?

Given the Dept. of Conservation and Recreation’s Corrective Action Agreement for the Town of Christiansburg, based upon failures to effectively implement the Town’s Erosion -Sediment Control Program (dated march 19, 2009, which can be found at:

I would tend to not look at the contractor’s concern. Rather, I would look at the Town’s resolve to effectively deal with issues that have already been identified as being deficient in. The report mentioned multiple instances where failures in the application/enforcement of the Town’s Erosion – Sediment Control Program specifically identified the Aquatic Center as failing to meet the criteria. Hopefully, the DCR is continuing to monitor the situation. Of course, given that the last Town Council Meeting had a section in it where there was a great deal of fun made of the DCR documents concerning stormwater education, there is some question as to how seriously any of these issues are taken. The Town Manager essentially recommended that any Town Council members needing something to put them to sleep should read it but that, as a document, it was unimportant but simply having it on hand brought them in compliance with the law.
