Lost medical transcription work to India a few years back when clinic I worked for decided to “cut costs”; interesting that I never saw any cuts passed on to their patients, just private info crossing continents under questionable security. Now am mindful that a $3 toaster on Black Friday may not be such a bargain!

Reply: good point about Black Friday!…particularly right here during the holidays with so many citizens of the United States out of work.

Reply: Those are outsourced but I do not know to whom. It could be to a local company, or it could be to some other regional company (Roanoke, etc.). There is, I believe an additional fee whenever anything else is added into the package, such a flyers for events and such. I would hope that the town recoups that extra expense from whom ever is doing the advertising if it is not the town. If not, that is something that should change.

I think it’s a shame US companies can only work employees part time and avoid paying any benefits, and those people have to work two or more jobs to get by. Not breaking the six figure barrier and can’t afford health care. Some of these employees are the very same ones providing us health care. Many nurses and CNA fall into this doughnut hole. Then you have other companies sending work overseas and hiding profits off shore and the grunts had better be ready to work as many hours as it takes or they know their job is gone too. Elected officials allow this and take corporate dollars to ensure they stay in office and so they know they don’t have to listen to voters. Just look at the last elections where most people stayed home. By the next election these same people may be very lucky if they still have a home or a job……..
