Yeah….there’ve been a few hitches in that getalong. Add to the fact that the quoted price involved only the building. There are still a lot of expenses that haven’t been addressed. The Town has often used it’s own personnel and virtually ‘subcontracted’ out some of the work to themselves….unfortunately, that is still an expense the taxpayers pay for over time.

I wonder how much it is going to cost to repave the new aquatic center parking lot adjacent to N. Franklin that has been destroyed by construction equipment being used on it. The pavement that was placed on it last fall has been removed in preparation for repaving this fall. This seems like poor management and it makes one wonder if gaffs such as this is what is creating the millions of dollars of cost overruns. Does this town really need to be in the construction business instead of the maintenance business?? I think not.

How good was the planning of construction of the pool parking lot adjacent to N.Franklin Street that the pavement has been ripped out in preparation of repaving. It has been there only about a year and the town’s heavy construction equipment being used on new pavement has torn it to pieces. Does our town really need to be in the construction or does it need to let knowledgable contractors bid on and perform work at a reasonable and fair cost.
