More than 60 people showed up for the first of two LWV’s sponsored candidate forums for the Blacksburg Town Council. 9 candidates were present and during the two hour event 7 questions were asked. Another 29 questions were obtained from citizens but time limits prohibited allowing all of the questions to be asked.
The LWVs of Montgomery County has posted those questions on their website. Links to the video of the event should be available tomorrow afternoon. The list of questions, both those asked and those not asked, are being provided to all candidates in order to allow them to expand on responses and to have an opportunity to respond to citizen questions that were not addressed. When, the allotted time for responses has been reached ( I think it is the 20th), those responses will also be posted on the website.
So, if you were one of those sitting in the audience tonight who submitted questions and did not hear them read, be patient. The questions are available for review now, and hopefully, there will be a lot of responses for you to use to evaluate candidates and make your voting choices.
Thanks to the Town of Blacksburg, the candidates, the volunteers, and especially to those citizens who came out to make it a great event!
