Virginia Interfaith Center for Public PolicyThe Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy is a non-partisan, faith-based advocacy group. Their primary goal is "working to create progressive public policy by engaging people of faith, educating the public about social issues, the legislative process, and the call to advocacy". (http://www.virginiainterfaithcenter.org/). Their website provides a wealth of information on a wide range of topics. If you have an interest in poverty, health care, immigration, the environment, children's issues, criminal justice, homelessness, housing, redistricting, etc., you can find a lot of information and extra links in this one location. The Richmond Sunlight webpage is one of the projects of this group. It provides a means for citizens to track the activities of the Virginia General Assembly. In order to fully appreciate what they have accomplished with this site, you simply need to go to it and begin looking. Along with the ability to review and track bills being processed through the legislature, you have an opportunity to provide your comments on the bill. Contact information, coverage area, committees assigned to, fundraising and controbutions, and history of sponsored bills can be found for each member of the Virginia House and Senate. |
