Coming in May, the last Christiansburg May Election!!

In May of 2010, Christiansburg will hold its last May election. Voters turned out in record numbers to vote on a referendum that would move the election date to November (same as general elections) beginning November of 2011. More than 80% of those voting at the Nover 2009 election voted to support changing the elections to November.

CHRISTIANSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES

Christiansburg Police Department is actively involved in bicycle registration, the use of bicycle patrols (and they CAN and DO give speeding tickets) and monitoring of speeds of vehicles in residential areas.

Are you wearing a helmet when riding your moped? You better be, it is now the law in the Town of Christiansburg. READ THE ORDINANCE HERE!

Bicycle helmets? Are you under the age of 14? New law goes into effect soon requiring you to wear a bicycle helmet.

TRAFFIC

See a Copy of the Form Developers must fill out to determine if a traffic study is required. One of these should be attached to each submission for a development (note: this is virtually identical to the form used by Blacksburg for this purpose.) VDOT Traffic Analysis Regulation has additional information.

PARKS AND RECREATION

Parks and Recreation Master Plan Rev. 2000 A.K.A. "The 10-Year Plan"

Parks and Recreation Master Plan 1995 - 2005 A.K.A. "The 10-Year Plan"

This project began as a simple request for information and grew into what you see now.It is an example of what an average citizen can do when inspired or challenged:)Prior to this:

I had never designed or worked with webpages except as a viewer on the internet (thanks to Dreamweaver for making it easy).I had never scanned documents and converted them into pdf files so that others could access them (thanks to Adobe Acrobat for that).I had never exerted my rights under F.O.I.A..I had no idea what I was entitled to have access to as a citizen.I had very little understanding/knowledge of the resources available online to help the average citizen more fully understand government and to use those resources to find the answers to questions.

It is pretty amazing what you can find if you look. At the bottom of each page is an email link where you can contact me. If you know of other resources that should be added, see a problem, or have a question, simply click on the link to send me an email. Thanks for taking the time to visit here. I hope you find something useful.
